We’ve really taken a liking to using Ruby on Rails to bring our projects to life. Its “convention over configuration” approach is very refreshing, especially after our prior experience of developing enterprise Java applications. Ruby on Rails has definitely allowed us to put more thought into features and a modern Web 2.0 design, rather than spending all our time wrestling code and configuration issues. A big thanks goes out to the Rails community for continuing to make our lives easier with all the great plugins and gems. We hope we can give something back with this blog.

In March 2008 we launched Nightfeed.com, a user-driven review website focused on nightlife around the nation. Users can add new venues (clubs, bars, lounges, late night dining spots, etc.) which can then be reviewed/rated by anybody. Users can also add/edit useful “know before you go” info.
The idea is to differentiate ourselves from sites such as Yelp and Citysearch by focusing on a niche in the nightlife community, as well as innovating with forthcoming social aspects. Our group of friends is dispersed around the nation, and it has been very rewarding watching them embrace the site.

SplitMyTrip.com allows you to organize trips, track who is and isn’t going, vote on items such as hotels and airfare, and split the cost of the trip via PayPal!
